In some cases people disable the password recovery procedure in order to increase security. On Cisco routers you can still reset the devices to factory defaults, but the break sequence needs to be sent at a different time. Tech Assistant will detect that the password recovery method has been disabled and will try send the break sequence at the appropriate moment. The exact timing varies from device to device and even between versions of IOS.
Tech Assistant will miss the exact momement for the break sequence and will not reset the router to factory defaults. If this happens reset the line and reboot the router. Most of the time Tech Assistant will succeed after the 2nd or 3rd try. If it does not work at all get in touch with us and we can adjust the timing to your particular case.
